The Caring Tree is now a program of the Twin Cities Kids In Need Resource Center of the Kids In Need Foundation. Caring Tree complements the Twin Cities Resource Center by extending service to the entire state of Minnesota, by providing annual grant awards to community-based and other social service agencies. Those agencies then work to get supplies into the hands of students most in need.
Established in 1993, The Caring Tree has assisted nearly 200,000 Minnesota students by providing them with backpacks and school supplies. Working with social service and other community-based organizations across the state, we have witnessed the positive impact to families in providing children with the essential materials for school. Not only have we assisted in reducing families’ financial burden, but also assisted students in focusing on their lessons without the worry, distraction or embarrassment of not having supplies.
Caring Tree’s annual grant application for 2014 is now available! Deadlines for the completed application and all supporting documentation is May 16, 2014. Grant awards will be determined in June, with funding notification expected in early July.
